I can't believe it's September already (actually 08/31).
Since trying to regularly update a blog along with raising 4 children is a consuming task, I'll keep my focus on the 2x a month newsletter - Light Readings.
If you want to be on the list go to www.donchick.com and sign up.

I've been teaching photographers to see light using a classic example for years now, a white egg on white paper. I think its a cruel twist of nature that a guy named Chick should be using an egg for an object lesson! Anyway, have you created your slide show of images? Of the hundreds of photographers I told this to, maybe a 1/2 dozen have actually done the exercise. If you done this email me and tell me if/how it helped.
Trust me - It's worth doing!

Beautiful Images
I love looking at beautiful images, they feed the artist in me. That little desire you have inside to "create".
ASP - The American Society of Photographers has a display of Loan Collection images online. You can find them here; Link. If that doesn't work past http://www.asofp-online.com/portfolio.asp into your address line.
Enjoy, & be inspired!

What to do with light!
Yesterday I found a really cool blog by Fred Hinegardner. I just had to share Fred's philosophy towards light with you.
--------------------------------
Fred's Rules for Lighting
I suppose you should read the previous blog to give this one context, but regardless, here goes:
Fred's Lighting Rule #1. If it's important, put some light on it.
Fred's Lighting Rule #2. If it's not important, put some shadow on it.
You're welcome.
-------------------------------
You can read more of Fred's writings at this link or paste http://photographyhasnohips.blogspot.com/ into your address line.
Enjoy!

I got a set of the Paul C. Buff CyberSync flash controls close to 6 months ago. I must say after using them that I am very impressed with both the quality and reliability. With other brands of transmitters and receives I would get a bunch of images during each session where the flash wasn't triggered. Talk about frustrating... to not have your flash system fire when you have a wonderful image sitting in front of your lens. Since I switched to the CyberSync system, I hardly have a mis-fire. It has certainly lowered my stress level.
As you can see from the photograph the transmitter and receivers are not very large. And the receivers (CSR) get their power from AC. No batteries to go dead during the session! And are you ready for this.... A set (CST & CSR) costs only $130! Check them out at www.white-lightning.com/remotes.html.
I hope you have a great weekend.
